The Mattituck Jr.-Sr. High School Art Honor Society and Portfolio Club continued their long-standing commitment to global kindness through participation in the Memory Project. For the 12 th year, the student-artists created hand-drawn portraits for children in Malawi – one of the most financially disadvantaged countries in the world.

Through the Memory Project, children facing substantial life challenges can see themselves portrayed in a work of art. Most of the children have never had access to a
photograph of themselves, nor have they traveled outside of their villages. Teacher Dina Rose said the project reflects a deep and ongoing dedication to using
art as a bridge between cultures and a source of joy and connection. “The students involved are proud of this tradition and fully intend to continue the project in the years ahead,” Ms. Rose said.
