Parent Resources

  • A Walk On Water

    A WALK ON WATER provides water therapy through guided surf instruction to specials needs children. Surfing is used as a tool to gain self confidence skills and promote the therapeutic benefits of the sport's positive effects. Children experience the true "stoke" of surfing and a sense of accomplishment as family and friends cheer them on from the beach. Brothers and sisters also participate, helping to solidify an often strained bond between siblings. Our surf events focus on both the athletes and their families, who are treated to a well-deserved day of relaxation, healthy food and lifestyle guidance.

    Asperger Syndrome & High Functioning Autism Association (AHA) serves individuals on the autism spectrum, their families, and the professionals who work with them, providing crucial resources and support as they face challenges, build on their strengths and fulfill their potential.

    The LIPC is available to provide information and support to parents and professionals, through person to person contact, training, workshops, website contact and our resource library regarding services to children with special needs.

    Parent to Parent of NYS is a place where families of individuals with special needs and the professionals who serve them can meet and share information. This website is maintained as a resource for families. We've walked the walk and are here to help other families: Support - We offer parents/caregivers the opportunity to connect one-to-one with a parent/caregiver of an individual with the same or similar disability or special health care need - someone who has "been there.” Information & Referral - We help families locate the information and services they need Trainings - Workshop sessions are available on Understanding Medicaid Service Coordination, Record Keeping and Using a Health Care Notebook, and various other topics.
