Mission Statement

The Mattituck-Cutchogue Union Free School District is dedicated to providing a welcoming and safe environment where diversity, interdependence and self-discovery are valued.  Educators, students, families, and community members work together creating a dynamic, flexible, and engaging learning process to:

-  Nurture individuals' passion for life and learning

-  Foster collaboration, creativity, and critical thinking

-  Encourage a range of perspectives

-  Promote and practice personal integrity

As a result, students develop academic excellence, confidence, and resiliency to face future challenges in order to contribute to and inspire positive change in the local and global community.

It is our vision statement of the Mattituck-Cutchogue UFSD to build a school culture that values academic achievement, supports character education, encourages community responsibility, and facilities lifelong learning.

  • We will provide safe and caring learning environments and develop programs to encourage intellectual curiosity, celebrate diversity, and maximize the individual talents of our children.

Superintendent Goals

  1. Student Performance: Establish clear expectations that lead to improved student achievement.

    • Review current curriculum, programs and initiatives to ensure we are utilizing and supporting the instructional goals of each.

    • Ensure that students are on track to attain diplomas and are prepared for college, careers, and active citizenship through varied learning experiences with an emphasis on 21st century skills.

    • Continue to enhance the use of technology in the classroom to advance instruction, K-12.

  2. Safety and Security: Create and maintain a safe learning environment for all students and staff.

    • Review all policies related to safety and ensure there is on-going assessment and practice

    • Expand the number of security personnel district-wide.

    • Ensure that the mental health curriculum, SEL program and initiatives reflect the current challenges and threats in today’s environment.Ensure there is greater alignment between each.

    • Continue to develop students’ participation in community related activities and their awareness of national and global citizenship.


  3. Finance and Fiscal Planning: Provide an educationally sound and fiscally responsible budget that enhances the opportunities for student both academically and socially while respecting the economy and community.

    • Develop a 3-5 year budget and financial plan.

    • Develop a multi-year plan for use of district reserve funds.

    • Establish a committee and develop a plan for the use of the Capital Reserve Fund including preparing for a vote in May of 2019.

    • Continue to obtain input from all stakeholder groups in order to present a fiscally responsible budget that the community will support.

    • Investigate ways to expand upon sources of revenue.


  4. Community Connections: Strengthen our community partnerships to support our district’s mission.


  • Increase and support opportunities for engagement in our schools including with non-English speaking families.

  • Expand social media options for communicating with the community.

  • Develop a plan for obtaining e-mail addresses of the community to begin sharing “Mattituck Moments”.

  • Engage Legislators and neighboring districts in greater opportunities for students and grant funding.
